One of the most profitable ways of making money online is by selling information products – “how to” guides. They don’t have to be about “making money online” as many people seem to think. Other great niches include hobbies, relationships and pets – what they have in common is that people are searching for information on those niches with their credit cards in their hand. Over the last few years it has become common place for ebooks to be sold on those products – delivered via digital download. However it’s a competitive market place and you’ll be sharing it with a lot of other people, all selling the same product.

What if I told you there was a better way – one where you could take the same “tired old ebook” and with a little bit of work create something that’s virtually unique to you AND command a higher asking price? Instead of selling an ebook for $9.97 you could sell the same thing but in a different format for twice, three times even 10 times as much. That’s the beauty of physical products……

              

When I first learned about the information marketing business, I bought every product I could find on the subject, attended all the seminars I could afford and spent a LOT of money (FIVE figures!). Of course I could see the huge potential of it, and obviously there are many people making a good living from it. Those who jump from one “latest must-have product” to the next generally have a few reasons why they aren’t yet successful – the missing pieces of the jigsaw. They understand some aspects of information marketing but not others. For me there were 2 major stumbling blocks

• How to do the copywriting

I solved the first by creating my own web site (Bestmultimediaguides) and the second I figured out a system that I haven’t seen anyone else using……one day when I get around to it I’ll write a full ebook and record videos for this system as well as charging a lot of money for it, but until I get the time to do this….here it is for free

              

Every month I spend a few hundred dollars buying up high quality Resell Rights products and add them to my site, Bestmultimediaguides. In previous posts I have written about the need to be very careful about knowing exactly what you are buying. Recently I came across a particular package retailing at $97, there were about 30 products and the source is a well-known and reasonably respected one. The products I was particularly interested in all had the words “with Private Label Rights” included underneath each graphic. Here’s what happened next….

              

It’s a problem a lot of us grapple with – looking for perfection. We feel we can’t launch a product because we’re not happy with the graphics, or the ebook we have put together is too long or too short. The web site doesn’t look right. We don’t want to start promoting our site because the autoresponders for the optin haven’t been written, or we don’t yet have a product to sell. When you are new to internet marketing, the choices of how to make money online are pretty overwhelming. Unless you already have an existing offline business that you are able to adapt to also marketing yourself on the internet, it certainly isn’t easy. The choices of how to go about it are huge. Do a search for “make money online” and you will find a multitude of different “money making systems” from affiliate marketing to blogging to niche marketing to adsense to video to….. well you get the picture. So where is the best place for you as a novice, with no prior technical or marketing skills to begin?

Signatures are simply a block of text that is automatically added to the bottom of every email you send out. Welcome to the third part of the Essential Communication Skills series. I’ve received a few emails from people saying “well, isn’t all of this a bit basic?”. It’s interesting, 10 years ago, even 5 years ago there is no way I would have written these tips. To most people this was basic common sense – use correct spelling in your correspondence with customers, reply to queries quickly, etc. However you would be surprised how very few people actually apply this kind of stuff. Believe it or not, I have actually had more emails from marketers thanking me for this…

              

Today in the second part of “Essential Communication Skills” I’m going to try and impress upon you how important it is to deal with any customer requests – quickly and efficiently. Yesterday I wrote about getting the basics right – making sure that the image you present of yourself is the right one. It’s very easy to become sloppy and not care about things such as grammar, spelling and punctuation, especially when your customers or potential customers don’t worry about these things. However it is vital that you present a professional image, all the more so when a lot of your competitors don’t. Here’s why speed in dealing with customers is also critical….

              

We’re in the business of marketing information over the internet – that’s you, me and everyone else reading this post. None of us have retail premises where we are able to meet our customers face to face and do our business. We all rely on the electronic media – our web sites, eBay sales pages, articles, Twitter comments etc. If our customers, or potential customers, get in touch with us it is again via electronic media – email, Skype and other Live Chat applications, blog comments etc. It truly amazes me how many people are getting this completely wrong and they are going out of their way to drive customers away!

              

Many resale rights marketers make the mistake of ignoring ebooks where they cannot edit the content; they will only use Private Label Rights products and not Master Resale Rights ebooks. Following on from previous posts about how to get more out of MRR, in this one we’re going to take a look at how easily you can turn one of these into your very own, unique content. All in less than a few hours. I am truly amazed at how little information there is about this very simple trick.

              

Obviously if you’re going to use Resale Rights products to market yourself then if you can find a suitable one with full Private Label Rights, that is the best option. However, as discussed in the post previous to this, there are many reasons why that is not always possible. In fact to go a stage further, there are in fact several good grounds for stating that often non-PLR products (or MRR – Master Resell Rights) can be better than PLR.

              

As you know, there are 2 main types of Resale Rights product – MRR (Master Resale Rights) and PLR (Private Label Rights). The main difference between these two is that whilst PLR products will come with source files allowing you to edit the ebook, MRR products do not. You will simply receive the PDF “as it comes”, with the author’s original content. If there are affiliate links inside, you can’t change them. So why would you ever resell MRR ebooks when you can use PLR instead?

              

This is going to be a controversial post but it’s something I feel very strongly about. No doubt a lot of very experienced marketers are going to disagree with me. That’s fine. On the one hand we have PDF ebooks compiled using the industry standard Acrobat Reader, a product that has been around for 15 years, developed by a very respectable company – Adobe. And on the other hand we have the dreaded “Ebook Applications” or “Executable Ebooks”. Grrrrrrrr.

              

Many marketers, especially “newbies” don’t check the terms and conditions of their resale rights license carefully enough. In all the excitement at having some products to sell it is all too easy for them to overlook whether a particular product really can be sold where they think it can. While many products come with a “do whatever you want with it” type of license, many do not. There are restrictions. If you want to save yourself a lot of potential trouble you MUST check what those restrictions might be….

              

When you buy your Resale Rights product, whether it is MRR or PLR, it is important to check exactly what those rights are. Effectively there is no such thing as “standard” resale rights as some have claimed. Yes, sometimes the distributor of a “Resale Rights bundle” will include their own “standard license” but that may vary from someone else’s. Resale Rights licenses can appear in different formats, can be found in different parts of your package and may have different terms and conditions applied to them. Let’s take a closer look…..

              

When people think of digital media (that’s information products as far as you and I are concerned), they tend to just think of ebooks. Most of us have read ebooks, most of us in Internet Marketing have bought other people’s ebooks and are familiar with that format. Thanks to Adobe’s PDF format having now become the “industry standard” this is now the most widely distributed form of digital media. However, there are other categories, which can be much more lucrative than ebooks and you would do well to consider them.

              

More and more people are setting up an information marketing business. I know this because a lot of them have contacted me since I set up my eBay shop Bestmultimediaguides. The most burning question on the lips of virtually all new info marketers is – “From where do I get my raw materials?“, in other words the information products with resale rights. There is almost too much choice – sites giving away ebooks for free, expensive membership sites, special “Resale Rights Bumper Package Offers”, the list goes on.

              

In the previous post we looked at the typical elements contained when you buy Resale Rights (whether PLR or MRR) to an information product. The most basic would be just the product itself (an ebook, a piece of software, some graphics etc) with NOTHING else included. Far too many Resale Rights packages are put together like this, with apparently attractive prices to match – “Buy 200 Information Products worth at least $2500 for only $7!!!”. Even worse are the “free packages” – “Download 100 free ebooks just for signing up to my newsletter!”. Here’s why they WON’T help you…

              

Private Label Rights (PLR) and Master Resale Rights (MRR) packages typically come in a range of shapes and sizes. There are many web sites set up to sell you ebooks and other digital items (software, graphics, videos, etc), and from time to time marketers will put together apparently good packages like “Buy 100 Products with Resale Rights” for $70. On the face of it these seem like great deals, however scratch the surface a little and a different picture emerges…..

              

As an eBay seller, expect to get questions from potential buyers about your product. Whilst I’m not going to write about the importance of good customer services today (I’ll leave that for another day), it is very important that you answer any questions quickly and honestly. Since I have been offering Resale Rights for every single product I’ve been selling on eBay, that has also been one of the most common questions I have received. What exactly does “Resale Rights” mean?
